"Sobering" "A wake up call..."

...Jeremy Rifkin's message was "riveting!"

Jeremy Rifkin, president of the Foundation on Economic Trends and the author of seventeen best-selling books regarding the impact of scientific and technological changes on the economy, the workforce, society, and the environment, spoke to over 200 people at this year's event. Mr. Rifkin was advisor to the presidency of the European union. Mr. Rifkin has served as an advisor to the Chancellor of Germany, Prime Minister of Portugal, and Prime Minister of Slovenia, during their respective Presidencies on issues related to the economy, climate change, and energy security.

Rifkin has been influencial in shaping public policy in the United States as well as globally. Mr. Rifkin lectures CEOs and senior corporate management from around the world on new trends in science and technology and their impacts on the global economy, society, and the environment.

American Conversations is the Peninsula College Foundation's signature fund raising event. Through the American Conversations event, the Foundation strives to accomplish three things:

To present to the campus community and to the community at large a major figure in America for the purpose of having true conversations on issues of importance in American life;
To promote the exchange of ideas, higher education, and learning in this vibrant rural community; and in doing so, to inspire other rural communities to do the same;
To raise funds for Peninsula College in an interesting and inspiring way
