Executive Director: Mary Hunchberger
Mary Hunchberger has been with the Peninsula College Foundation since May 2005. Mary started as the Foundation Program Assistant and stepped into the role of the Foundation's Executive Director. She has since been promoted to the position of Executive Director of College Advancement with responsibilites in the areas of marketing, public information and the website in addtion to her responsibility with the Foundation. She lives in Sequim with her husband, Eric Apablasa and their son, Drake. She moved to Washington from Mexico in 2003 where she worked a s a consultant while her husband worked for Apple Inc., Latin America. Before moving to Mexico she lived in Long Beach, California where she worked at the Boeing Company for thirteen years as a Senior Manager in Employee Involvement. Mary earned her Masters degree in Organization Development at Pepperdine University in 2000 while working full time at the Boeing Company. She is a Board member of the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce, a trustee with the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center and represents the college at the Sequim Chamber of Commerce. A "big city" girl, Mary enjoys the relaxing, serene atmosphere of the Olympic Peninsula, as well as the pristine outdoors environment. When not raising funds in her "dream job" as Executive Director of the Peninsula College Foundation, Mary enjoys competing in half marathons and triathlons with her husband.
Program Specialist: Nancy East
Nancy East of Sequim has been with Peninsula College since July 1999. Currently with the Foundation as a Program Specialist, she joined the Foundation in November of 2006 after working in the Financial Aid Office and previous to that at the Port Townsend site. Nancy knows her way around the campus, and her knowledge of the different campus departments, especially the Financial Aid Office, makes her a very valuable member of the Foundation staff. Nancy is also a graduate of the first class of the Bachelor of Applied Science four-year degree program at Peninsula College. Nancy moved to the Olympic Peninsula with her husband Michael in 1999. She lives in Sequim and when her busy schedule permits, she enjoys watercolor painting. Her passion for art recently took her to France where she and fellow watercolor enthusiasts painted their way through the French countryside.
